I’m Karin, the maker behind Earth & Fringe. Thank you for stopping by and supporting my work!
I’ve spent my life working creatively. For a long time now that’s been as a Creative Director for Humane World for Animals, with lots of thinking, planning and time in front of a screen. Pottery started as something I did on weekends, mostly because I wanted to make something real with my hands and step away from my laptop. Clay has a powerful way of doing that. If you know, you know! You look up and somehow hours have passed, and your brain has finally quieted down, in the best possible way.
I’ve always been crafty and curious, playing with just about every medium over the years, but pottery is the one that I’m most drawn to. I’m still learning, still experimenting, and trying to embrace not being good at everything yet. My work focuses on handbuilt ceramics and is often paired with macramé, resulting in functional and decorative pieces with texture and the signs of it being handmade.
I live in Asheville, North Carolina, with two cats and work between AVL Clay pottery studio and my home studio. Earth & Fringe is simply a place to share where the work is right now, and wherever it might wander next.
